Garda pursuit after driver failed to stop

Navan Gardai are investigating a dangerous driving incident involving a Fiat Punto which failed to stop for Gardai last night. The garda pursuit began on the Slane Road in Navan and continued to Carlanstown Village where the vehicle was last seen.

At around 10.40pm, Gardai on patrol in an unmarked car noticed a red Fiat Punto with no lights travelling on the Slane Road. It drove through St Mary's Park where Gardai signalled for the vehicle to stop but it drove off at speed. The driver continued out to the Proudstown Road, turning onto the Clonmagadden Road and out the Rathaldron Road towards Oristown. Gardai pursued the vehicle which continued travelling at excessive speed on towards Carlanstown village. The driver got away, and the vehicle was last seen in Carlanstown village.
