Trim advance to Leinster final

The curtain came down on the perfect year for Trim at Pairc Tailteann today, but their journey will continue into 2022 as they booked their place in the Leinster Club IFC final with an impressive victory over Wexford champions Crossabeg Ballymurn.

Today's win was Trim's 17th of the year as they advanced to the provincial final off the back of winning the Corn na Boinne and the Meath IFC without losing a game.

However it wasn't all plain sailing for Kevin Reilly's side as they had to negotiate a strong Crossabeg Ballymurn side to maintain that winning run, but in the second-half they turned on the style and coasted to a final meeting with Offaly champions Clara.

Two goals in the opening nine minutes from Conor Quigley and Mikey Cullen helped to propel Trim into a seven-point lead, but with that cushion behind them they lowered their intensity and allowed Crossabeg Ballymurn gain a foothold in the contest and claw their way back to within a point by the 27th minute.

However Trim closed out the opening period with four successive points to lead by five at the break (2-8 to 0-9) and with the Wexford men managing just one point from a free after the resumption Trim cruised into the final.
