Buses off road after 'serious defects' found

Gardaí and the RSA were involved in the operation.

Two buses were taken off the road by Gardaí after “serious defects” were found.

Members of the Cavan Roads Policing Unit carried out a number of checkpoints in the Cavan and Virginia areas last Thursday.

Members of the Road Safety Authority were also involved in the operation, which was specifically focusing on commercial vehicles and buses.

Gardaí say most vehicles met requirements and were allowed to proceed but two buses were taken off the road.

They say further investigation of them was warranted as “serious defects” were discovered when they were stopped.
