Leinster u-14 Boys for Royal Tara Golf Club

Royal Tara Golf Club is set to host the Leinster Under-14 Boys Open, on Friday 29th October with 72 of the best players from the four provinces to compete over 18 holes.

The field includes 2021 Irish Under-14 Boy’s Champion Sean Cooper (Enniscorthy), and numerous other players that competed in the recent Under-14 Boy’s Interprovincial Championship.

Speaking ahead of the event, Royal Tara’s Junior Convenor Gary Clynch said that having the competition during the mid-term break will allow some of the club’s junior players see the best of under-age talent in the country.

“We have 240 juniors in the club, and plenty of them aspire to play at this level," said Clynch.

" Players are coming from all over the country to play in the competition. Some have already have practice rounds at Royal Tara. We are delighted to be hosting the event.

Royal Tara won’t have any players competing, but a large local contingent will feature including players from Headfort, Co. Meath and Laytown and Bettystown.

“Local knowledge of Tara may be useful. We’d love to see a local winner. It’s a pity we have nobody playing, all of our low handicappers are sadly overage. If we held this event last year, we’d have had a number of players competing.

“We’re delighted to host the event. The course will be in great shape. I’d expect the course to play long. It’ll be difficult going for the players, I imagine.”
