Cllrs told 68 vacant houses have been brought back in to use

SIXTY EIGHT council houses which had been vacant and needed refurbishment were brought back into productive use in Co Meath so far this year, county councillors have been told.

Government funding of €1,047,609 was provided for this purpose. A total of five houses remain to be renovated before being let to tenants.

Details of the amount of refurbishment, along with costs, were sought by Fianna Fail Cllr Mike Bray. He was also told that in 2020, pre-let funding was secured from the Government for 80 units, to a total value of €1,336,000.

The number of units treated under the Department of Housing during 2020 was – Ashbourne MD (3), Kells MC (19), Laytown-Bettystown MD (7), Navan (17), Ratoath (16), Trim (18).

2021 details – Ashbourne (5), Kells (16), Laytown-Bettystown (5), Navan (18), Ratoath (10), Trim (14).
