Frankie and Johnny deliver for DAFA at Bellewstown

Bohermeen man Johnny Murtagh provided the ammunition and Frankie Dettori duly delivered the result that was required on a flying visit to Bellewstown today.

The Murtagh-trained Trueba won the Gannons City Recovery And Recycling Services Ltd. Supporting DAFA Handicap.

The race raised funds for the charity - Direct Aid For Africa - that was set up by the late Barney Curley.

It is understood that close to €100,000 was raised for DAFA by the initiative as the tiny hillside track in Meath once more grabbed the headlines some 46 years after the famous Yellow Sam betting coup took place at the track.

There was the anticipated flying dismount in the winners' enclosure after what was Dettori’s first time to ride a winner for Murtagh.
