Boxer Kenneth Egan looks back at his addictions

Olympian recalls death of Darren Sutherland and his reaction to it on Virgin Media tonight

Tonight, on Virgin media, Olympic silver medallist Kenny Egan speaks about his journey to the top of the amateur boxing world and his hidden struggles with addiction.

In 'Sport Stories: Kenny Egan' air at 8pm on Virgin Media Two, Kenny discusses his binge drinking going out of control after the 2008 Olympics and how he tried to work his alcoholism around training.

Kenny discusses the death of his Irish boxing team mate Darren Sutherland from Navan, who won bronze at the same Olympics in 2008, and how he was so far gone with drinking at that stage that he took comfort in knowing the death would delay training so he could keep drinking without any questions.

He talks about how he almost quit because he was losing as a youngster but never gave up.
