Meath set for Longford in Pairc Tailteann quarter-final
Longford will travel to Pairc Tailteann next Sunday full of confidence to tackle Meath in the Leinster SFC quarter-final with throw-in timed for 3pm.
The reason for that confidence will be the gradual improvement they have achieved since the start of the NFL and that was evident this evening in Tullamore when they negotiated Carlow by six points in a Leinster SFC first round tie.
Longford won by 0-25 to 2-13 with Robbie Smyth and Rian Brady each scoring five points as 11 players contributed to an impressive tally.
It was a fairly comfortable win for the Longford men with Carlow finding the net early and late in the second-half.
Longford scorers - Robbie Smyth 0-5, Rian Brady 0-5, Darren Gallagher 0-4, Joseph Hagan 0-2, David McGivney 0-2, Dessie Reynolds 0-2, Kevin Diffley 0-1, Michael Quinn 0-1, Donal McElligott 0-1, Patrick Fox 0-1, Oran Kenny 0-1.
