Donal Lenihan was on the mark for Dunboyne

Dunboyne too hot for Donaghmore/ Ashbourne to handle

FEIS CUP

Dunboyne issued another major statement of intent as they followed up last week's win over Summerhill with another impressive 2-15 to 0-11 Feis Cup victory over hosts Donaghmore/Ashbourne.

With Donal Lenihan in fine form he opened Dunboyne's account, but the hosts settled with Dylan Brady, Kevin Fenton and Michael Deegan (free) giving them the advantage after just six minutes.

Stephen Carton stretched that lead to three points, but before the water break Dunboyne turned over possession and bagged a goal. That proved to be the turning points and despite points from Jason Boland and Carton and a fine save by Jack Hannigan Donaghmore/Ashbourne trailed by 0-6 to 1-9 at the break.

Carton opened the second-half scoring, but Dunboyne continued to dominate and despite scores from Deegan, Shaun Byrne, Leo Reilly and Simon Wilson there was no way back for Donaghmore/Ashbourne who gave valuable game time to their younger players in the final quarter.

Donaghmore/Ashbourne - Jack Hannigan; Jason Boland, Iarlaith O'Donnell, Conor Carton; Sean Curran, Shane Melia, David Carr; Andrew Tormey, James Redmond; Shaun Byrne (0-1), Dylan Brady (0-1), Kevin Fenton (0-1); James Crumlish, Michael Deegan (0-3), Stephen Carton (0-3). Subs - Aaron McLoughlin for O'Donnell, Leo Reilly (0-1) for Fenton, Simon Wilson (0-1) for Crumlish, Rodney Jones for Carr, Luke Wilson for Brady, Jack Giles for Redmond, Luke Barrett for Carton.
