Meath to face Kerry in Ladies NFL Div 2 final

Meath qualified for the Ladies NFL Div 2 final today with a thrilling 0-13 to 0-9 win against hosts Cavan at Breffni Park.

There were three changes for Meath from the 15 that was revealed yesterday with Megan Thynne, Vikki Wall and Emma Duggan replacing Emma White, Shelly Melia and Meadhbh Byrne.

For Megan Thynne it was a particularly hectic day as due to the clash of fixtures (Meath v Antrim in camogie) she played the first-half of the football and then drove for about an hour to get to the second-half of the camogie (see separate reports on this platform).

The Meath players had a statement to make without saying a word

However, on the pitch for the footballers, this was an excellent performance, particularly in the second half, after the sides went in level at the interval at 0-5 apiece.

Meath forged clear after the resumption and established a 0-13 to 0-7 advantage before Mary Kate Lynch collected a late yellow card as the Royal County finished the game with 14.

Next up for Meath is the Div 2 final against Kerry and a return to Croke Park for the decider at the end of this month.

Today Kerry defaeted Monaghan in a shoot out after the teams ened level after extra-time.

The final will be part of a TG4 live double header on Saturday 26th June - Div 2 final, 5pm; Div 1 final 7.30pm
