Parkvilla receive FAI award
Well-known Navan soccer club Parkvilla have received the FAI Club Mark One Star Player Development Centre Award.
According to Barry McGann, the Club Development Program Co-ordinator with the FAI Grassroots Department, the award given to "grassroots clubs based on best practice in their governance, management and administration."
He added that the Club Mark One Star Player Development Award is part of a program that "aims to support and encourage clubs to improve standards off the field with the result of having stronger clubs and a stronger game."
The FAI recognise, explained McGann, that a club with "strong structures" in place supported by volunteers are best placed to promote football and develop players.
"More than ever, it is essential that every club is well organised in all areas of club management. The FAI has a key role to play in facilitating club development by identifying and promoting best practice and providing the necessary guidance to empower clubs."
To gain the award Parkvilla have had to demonstrate a level of competence in a number of areas including - club governance and administration; child welfare, safeguarding and coach education; club player development plan; club coaching structure and engagement with FAI programs.
"We are delighted to award Parkvilla FC with the FAI Club Mark One Star Player Development Centre Award. We look forward to working closely with the club in the future," McGann added.
