Ratoath driver Cian Carey has secured a professional contract for Le Mans Cup

Carey signs for Italian team TS Corse with debut in Barcelona

Ratoath driver Cian Carey has signed his first professional contract to race in the European Michelin Le Mans cup with Italian outfit TS Corse and will make his debut in Spain in a fortnight.

“I’m absolutely over the moon to announce the news.," commented Carey.

The 26-year-old will make the step from a successful three years in Formula 3 where he was the first driver to win back-to-back British F3 titles to a new challenge of endurance racing in a prototype LMP3 car, sharing the car with Italian teammate Pietro Peccenini.

Over the past few months Carey has been working hard to make the step up to professional motorsport on the international stage, the hard work paying off with the support of his management team Matt Griffin and John Clare.

Joining the Le Mans cup grid. for one of the biggest championships in the world, the Meath man will compete against some of the highest level racing drivers.

"I travelled to Italy last week to meet the team and they wanted to do an evaluation of myself and another driver they tested the week before," he commented.

"I progressed throughout the day to new surroundings of the car and track, but I adapted fast and never put a foot wrong all day.

"Before leaving the circuit the team had told me they wanted to sign me and it was one of the most special feelings in my motorsport career to date.

"I have a very fast teammate, it’s a new series for me and for the team, but I have full trust in the team's ability (TS Corse) and how they operate is very professional.

"It will be a steep learning curve of pit stops and long stints in the car, but I’m very excited for the challenge ahead.

"I want to say a massive thank you to everyone who has made this happen.

"My managers who have put in so much work to get me in the right place, and to my loyal sponsor F Brazil Reinforcements for the continued support over the years," he added.
