Carey bidding to retain F3 UK Cup title this weekend

For Ratoath driver Cian Carey the prize is on the line this weekend at Snetterton for the final series of the F3 UK Cup action.

The Meath man took a huge step towards retaining the British F3 Cup when he secured a coveted victory on the penultimate weekend of the championships at Donnington Park at the end of September.

After winning the BOSS Ireland Championship in 2016 when he secured a remarkable five outright wins, three second places and four thirds on his way to being crowned champion he was nominated as 2016 Motorsport Ireland Young Racing Driver of the Year.

Only 12 months ago he was crowned 2018 British Formula 3 champion driving for the Chris Dittman Racing team.

CIAN CAREY IN ACTION IN THIS YEAR'S F3 UK CUP

Last month he claimed a win and the points in the first race at Donington to help keep him top of the standings with just three races to go in the final round at Snetterton this weekend.

There will be three races over Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th October.

Last time out, as he has done regularly this season, Carey had to dig out the victory at Donington’s famous track using all his skills to finish in first place.

Carey showed he was on form by claiming top spot in the first race.

Carey’s performance in that race was a fine example of how the Meath driver can do well under pressure.

With rival Shane Kelly close behind Carey couldn’t afford to make mistakes and he drove consistently well to win.

However, Carey and the Dittmann team remain in line to secure the individual and team double this weekend at Snetterton.

Dunshaughlin driver Darragh Daly is in fourth position in the overall standings.
