Trainer John McConnell was on the mark at Tipperary today

Impressive winner at Tipperary for McConnell

Trainer John McConnell and amateur rider Ben Harvey combined for a second bumper win of the week when newcomer Bardenstown Lad won the concluding race at Tipperary today.

Bardenstown Lad was a £42,000 purchase last December at the Tattersalls Cheltenham Newmarket sale and had previously won a Lingstown point to point for Adrian Murray.

Today at Tipperary the six-year-old had plenty to spare at the line winning by 15 lengths.

There was also a Meath success in the opening race as trainer Gavin Cromwell maintained his impressive strike-rate.

Dunshaughlin amateur jockey Joey Dunne made it two winners in a week as he partnered his fourth winner in total on board the Cromwell-trained Derrylinda at Tipperary today in the opening mares' flat race.
