Sean Flanagan arriving at Navan airfield this evening

Flanagan flying after Festival winner

Cheltenham Festival-winning jockey Sean Flanagan returned home this evening flying his own aeroplane into Navan airfield.

For Flanagan it was a memorable week with that first winner at the Festival achieved - "I'm absolutely over the moon with the win, it was a great week for horseracing on so many fronts," he said.

It was a first Festival victory for the Wexford man who now resides in Slane with his partner Lauren Carragher who was at the airfield this evening for the 'official' welcome home.

Talking about his win on the Noel Meade-trained Jeff KIdder the Wexford man said:

“To be fair to Noel, we were doing a bit of work the other day and had a chat afterwards, and he maintained the horse had a right chance, and generally when he says something like that you have to stand up and take note, and he was very right."
