Expensive buy Ginto completes Navan four-timer for Gordon Elliott

Gordon Elliott completed a four-timer at Navan today with the close to €500,000 spent by local business couple Noel and Valerie Moran on Ginto recouping about two per cent of that outlay from the €6,000 prizemoney for the Flower Hill (Pro-Am) Flat Race.

A beaten-into-second 4/9 favourite at Fairyhouse last month, Ginto did the business today to help the trainer close the monetary gap in the race for the NH trainers' title with Willie Mullins who is ahead by some €640,000 at this stage.

Elliott was also on the mark with Thyestes winner Coko Beach in the opener, Frontal Assault and Fierami with Ginto making it four.

The Summerhill man was denied narrowly by Noel Meade in the Boyne Hurdle where most of the attention was on the return to action of Tiger Roll.

Regarding Ginto Elliott commented: "He's not really a bumper horse, he'll be a different horse when he gets a jump.

"We've had four winners and two seconds today so we can't complain.”

Elliott now turns his attention to Fairyhouse tomorrow where he has 10 runners as he attempts to close the gap in the title race.
