Clancy continues to add quality at Drogheda

Drogheda Utd manager Tim Clancy continues to recruit good quality players ahead of the start of the new League of Ireland season when the Louth club will join Dundalk in the Premier League after an absence of three years.

The most recent recruit for Clancy is former Dundalk man Dane Massey who completed his move at the weekend.

Massey is the 20th player, and sixth new addition, to be announced for Clancy’s 2021 Premier Division squad.

“I’m looking forward to getting stuck in now, it’s a new challenge for myself and I’m going to take it head on,” commented Massey who had eight years with Dundalk

Trim man Clancy took the reins at the Louth club late in 2017 after they were relegated to the First Division and he took the Louth men to the promotion play-offs in 2018 losing out to Finn Harps.

The following season season Clancy took Drogheda a step further, to the play-off final, but once again they lost out to Harps in the two-legged play-off final with the Donegal side winning 2-1 in extra-time in the second leg at Finn Park..

Last season they clinched the title and secured automatic promotion to the Premier League.
