What are Meath's prospects of winning Joe McDonagh Cup?

Four years after they lost the Christy Ring Cup final to Meath in a replayed Croke Park decider, Antrim have won the Joe McDonagh Cup for the first time.

What are the prospects for Meath to make the breakthrough to the top level in 2021?

The Joe McDonagh Cup is now the Tier 2 HC, but back in 2016 the Christy Ring Cup was the Tier 2 HC until the format was changed.

The Joe McDonagh Cup was introduced for 2018 and previous winners include Carlow (2018) and Laois (2019).

Meath were relegated from the Joe McDonagh Cup in 2018, but winning the 2019 Christy Ring Cup got them back into the Tier 2HC for this year.

Meath didn't win a game in the Joe McDonagh Cup in 2018 or this year, but they will be in the Tier 2HC again for 2021 with Kerry, Carlow, Westmeath, Down and Kildare.
