Dry, bright day ahead with sunny spells

Scattered showers will become isolated through the morning. It will be a dry and bright day with sunny spells, according to the latest bulletin from Met Éireann.

Later in the afternoon, cloud will build from the Atlantic bringing rain and drizzle by evening. Afternoon highs of 7 to 10 degrees. Moderate northwest winds will back southwest and ease.

Outbreaks of rain turning heavy and persistent overnight where there is a risk of localised flooding. Lowest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees.

The national weather forecaster says tomorrow will start wet with some heavy falls persisting and an ongoing risk of localised flooding. The rain will gradually clear but it will remain cloudy with patchy rain and drizzle at times and mist in coastal areas. Highest temperatures of 11 or 12 degrees in moderate to fresh southwest breezes.

Overall, weather conditions will remain changeable with rain or showers at times and turning cooler over the weekend.

Friday night will be mild and mostly cloudy with patchy rain, drizzle and mist, although rain will become more persistent in western coasts and northern counties overnight. Lowest temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees in moderate to fresh and gusty southwest winds.

Saturday should be mostly cloudy, damp and reasonably mild at first. Outbreaks or rain and drizzle will clear southeastwards through the morning, giving way to brighter cooler and more showery conditions extending from the northwest. The afternoon will start out with temperatures ranging 7 to 12 degrees north to south, but reducing 6 to 9 degrees by late afternoon. Winds will be mainly light to moderate southwesterly.

Saturday night is promised cold and mostly dry with clear spells and overnight lows of 1 to 5 degrees, with a touch of grass frost. Isolated showers will continue to occur near west and northwest coasts.

Sunday should remain dry for a lot of the country with varying cloud amounts and some sunshine but showers will affect parts of the west and northwest. Cool with afternoon highs of 7 to 10 degrees with light to moderate southwesterly winds.

The unsettled picture continues into the early days of next week with rain at times.
