Dunshaughlin entrepreneur in running for EY award

Dunshaughlin entrepreneur Devan Hughes of Buymie is amongst 24 finalists competing to be crowned 2020 Entrepreneur of the Year Award this week.

Founded in 2016, Buymie is a same day grocery delivery platform, allowing users to order grocery and household items from large retailers like Lidl and Tesco, having their full basket delivered ‘store to door’ in as little as an hour, by their very own personal shopper. With 27 full time employees, today Buymie is operational in both Ireland and the UK, with over 240+ personal shoppers servicing upwards of 650,000 households.

The success of Buymie has seen Devan hold the role of chairman for Sharing Economy Ireland, and he is also a regular guest lecturer in some of Europe’s top business schools, on the topics of the Platform Economy, FMCG and Supply Chain innovation.

The 24 finalists of the 2020 EY Entrepreneur Of The Year Ireland programme from across the island of Ireland will compete across three categories - Emerging, Industry and International - and one overall winner will be selected as The EY Entrepreneur Of The Year 2020 on 12th November.

The 24 finalists have been shortlisted from more than 100 nominations by an independent judging panel of previous winners, chaired by Anne Heraty, CEO of CPL Resources Plc, and EY Entrepreneur Of The Year 2006, who has just sold her recruitment firm for €318 million to the Japanese group, Outsourcing.

This is Devan's second nomination in the 'Emerging' category, having been first nominated in 2016.
