Extension approved for Dunshaughlin Community College

An extension to Dunshaughlin Community College has been approved by The Minister for Education, Norma Foley.

The move will see the development of 12 general classrooms, specialist rooms, multi-use hall, four classroom SEN Base and ancillary accommodation.

Meath East Fianna Fáil TD and Minister for European Affairs, Thomas Byrne has welcomed the news commenting that:

“This is really welcome news for Dunshaughlin and the Community College. Previously, as Fianna Fáil Education Spokesperson I lobbied the Department of Education for this increased and enhanced accommodation which is vital for the Community College to grow and prosper.

“The town of Dunshaughlin and its population has grown exponentially over recent years and continued development in the town is expected over the next number of years. It’s critical that school places and school accommodation goes hand in hand with that growth in population.

I’ll be keeping a close eye on how the extension project is furthered and will be ensuring that the project is delivered as quickly as possible” commented Minister Byrne.

Meanwhile speaking on the news this morning The Minister for Justice Helen McEntee T.D said:

"Today’s news is welcome news for Dunshaughlin Community College, and I compliment LMETB, the Principal and the local Board of Management on their efforts to achieve this result for students and parents” the Meath East Fine Gael T.D. and Cabinet Minister said.

“Schools are at the heart of every community. A vibrant and well equipped Dunshaughlin Community College is good news for Dunshaughlin and its hinterland. Again I welcome this news” concluded Minister McEntee
