Skryne stroll to big win
Showing plenty of pace and craft Skryne cast aside the challenge of Nobber by 4-13 to 0-12 in this one-sided SFC encounter at Seneschalstown today.
The few who got into the ground and the spectators who watched from the nearby railway bridge can only have been impressed by the Skryne display as it was full of pace and threat.
The pity for them is that they couldn't produce it earlier in the championship. This was a game they needed to win to avoid getting embroiled in a relegation play-off and the prospect of that becoming reality had disappeared by the break when they led 2-10 to 0-5.
Conor O'Brien and Darragh Campion both fired to the net for the men in blue before the break making the most of some slack Nobber defending to find the net.
Early in the second-half Niall Finnerty fired home a third goal for Skryne with Padraig Finnerty adding a fourth. Nobber never found the type of form that helped them defeat Simonstown in the previous round.
Ian Davis had a fine game for the winners, capping his display with five points while the pacy, ever elusive Finnerty finished the contest with 1-4 his goal coming from a penalty that was superbly tucked away.
Nobber never stopped battling but their defensive frailities were badly exposed here. Jordan Morris showed his quality with a excellent display finishing with seven points including three first-rate scores from play.
Sean Meade, Paul Meade and Alan Farrell were others that featured for Nobber but there was no stopping Skryne on this form.
The one blot on Skryne's copybook was a red card shown to Eoghan Greene in injury time.
