Temperatures will reach up to 25c but cloud and rain will persist

Weather to remain warm and humid over the weekend with temperatures reaching up to 25C but cloud cover and thunderstorms are set to dominate until next Wednesday!

The Met Éireann forecast came as a Status Yellow alert for thunderstorms was issued for Munster yesterday.

There will be sunny spells today with the risk of heavy showers through the southern half of Leinster.

The highest temperatures will be in the north too, up to 25 degrees likely there, with temperatures across the province generally between 21 and 24 degrees with high relative humidity. Winds will be light east or northeast.

Overnight temperatures no lower than 14 to 16 degrees once again with mostly dry weather, although there is an ongoing risk of passing showers throughout the forecast period. Winds remain light easterly or variable.

Saturday, will see showers or longer spells of rain affecting southern parts of the region at first. There'll be drier weather for northern areas with sunshine there.

Temperatures staying on the high side, between 21 and 24 degrees. Winds remain light variable or easterly in direction with sea breezes developing in the afternoon.

Sunday will bring a mix of sunny spells and scattered showers, some heavy. Highest daytime temperatures 18 to 22 degrees, lowest night time temperatures 13 to 16 degrees.
