'Exciting retelling' of Fionn Mac Cumhaill's adventures

Ronan Moore has always been fascinated by Irish myths and legends, and how these tales of ancient Ireland have inspired generations of storytellers.
Following the success of his trilogy of humour books Irishology, Irishography and Irishisms published by Gill Books, Ronan has turned his hand to children’s fiction with his latest book 'Young Fionn; Small Kid, Big Legend'.
Charting the epic adventures of a young Fionn Mac Cumhaill, on his journey to becoming the legendary leader of the Fianna Young Fionn is the exciting retelling of some of Ireland’s most loved folklore.
Based on the classic 12th century Irish text The Boyhood Deeds of Fionn, in Young Fionn, Ronan stitches together a tapestry of tales that have been passed down from generation to generation, bringing the complete stories of Fionn Mac Cumhaill’s childhood to life.
Including the well-known stories of the Salmon of Knowledge and the Dragon of Tara, Young Fionn tells the stories of love and loss, revenge and friendship faced by Fionn and the clans that fought with and battled against him and his men on his quest to becoming leader of the Fianna.
Beautifully illustrated by Alexandra Colombo, Young Fionn introduces a new audience of young readers to the epic adventures of Fionn Mac Cumhaill, as they journey with him through the ancient land of druids, Celts, High Kings and warriors.
Young Fionn will be launched in Trim Library on Tuesday 10, March 2020 at 6.30pm
