Meath Sports Awards - OCTOBER winner CIAN CAREY
The countdown is on for the Meath Chronicle Sportsperson of the Year awards with the 13th annual ceremony scheduled for its traditional home at Knightsbrook Hotel, Trim next Friday evening.

The overall 2019 Sportsperson of the Year will be selected from the monthly winners who will each be honoured on the night in recognition of their specific achievements during 2019.
The 2019 Sportsperson of the Year awards will be hosted by RTE’s Evanne Ni Chuilinn.
The list of contenders is listed at the end of this article and in this piece the focus is on October - Ratoath driver Cian Carey.
CIAN CAREY
Ratoath man Cian Carey achieved a piece of motorsport history in October when he became the first driver to retain the British Formula 3 Cup Championship and complete a memorable two in-a-row.
The Meath man made it back-to-back successes after his inaugural victory in last year's competitive series and this time around achieved eight wins and 16 podiums.
“Overall, I’m absolutely delighted to take the championship, back-to-back titles in 2019 and 2018 with eight wins this season, it has been unbelievable,” commented Carey.
“The team (Chris Dittman Racing) did an amazing job, I can’t thank Chris and the lads enough, Shane and Neil have been brilliant on the car, it has always been perfect every time I get into it,” he added.
THAT WINNING FEELING FOR CIAN CAREY
The Meath man rachieved amazing success over the last three years - Irish young race driver of the year, Lenister Trophy champion and now two British titles back-to-back.
"This is something I could never have dreamed of and none of it would have been possible without the support of my sponsors and family," he said.
