St Pat's students in Navan will be sleeping out for Focus Ireland

Will you support the St Pat's students sleeping out for Focus Ireland?

St Patrick’s Classical School's transition year students will be taking part in a Sleep Out to raise awareness on homelessness and raise funds for Focus Ireland in the run up to Christmas on Thursday 5th December.

And they've made a powerful video to show just what supporting Focus Ireland can do and the blight of homelessness in this country. Cleverly shot on the St Pat's Classical School campus, CCTV cameras follow the movements of a young man carrying all his worldy possessions as he looks for somewhere to bed down for the night. The video is accompanied by the haunting Kodaline 'High Hopes' track. (see below)

The Sleep Out will take place on the same school grounds and all funds raised will go towards homeless people in Meath.
According to Focus Ireland statistics there are currently 97 homeless people in Meath.

“The aim of this project is to experience what it would be like to be homeless for the night and still  have to get up and attend school in the morning,” according to Mark Donnelly Chaplain of St Patrick's Classical School.

The school carpark will be used for the sleepout and students and staff will bring a sleeping bag and suitable outdoor clothing.
There will be access to canteen facilities for soup and tea.

The sleepout will take place from 7:30pm to 7:30am and students can use gym facilities to shower on Friday morning, change into uniform, have breakfast in the canteen and attend Friday classes as normal.
“Our aim is to raise in excess of €2,500 in the first year. That  would be a great achievement for our first year. We have also arranged a bag pack in Super Valu, Johnstown on Friday 29th November,” said Mr Donnelly.
