Young Kyle without wheelchair and walking frame as family car stolen

A  wheelchair and walking frame used by six-year old Kyle Fitzgerald from Ashbourne, who has a form of cerebral palsy, have been stolen, along with the family car and its specially adapted car seat.
The incident happened in Ashbourne in the early hours of this morning, and his parents, Janine and Rory, are appealing for their return, as Kyle can not do any of his activities without it.
‘Kyle’s Wish To Walk’ Facebook page says: “Kyle’s wheelchair was stolen. Our car was stolen at 2.50am in Ashbourne and contained Kyle’s wheelchair, specially adapted car seat and his Kaye Walking/Standing frame …
“The wheelchair is his only mode of transport and can’t be replaced for weeks. We NEED that back ! Please share this post in the hope they will leave it a place where it can be found and returned.

“The car is of secondary importance but if helps locating the wheelchair it’s a White Kuga with registration 182MH958…
The people that took this will use social media. Get that wheelchair left somewhere and find a way to get a message to us. Insurance will sort the car but we are devastated about the wheelchair. He can’t do any of his activities without it."

Kyle was born on 28th December 2012, six weeks premature. As the months went by, he missed the key milestones. He could not sit, was not able to crawl and consequently standing and walking were beyond him. After a series of stressful tests, including an MRI and EEG, it was finally established in June 2014 that there was damage to the white matter of his brain known as Periventricular Leukomalacia (PVL) which causes Cerebral Palsy. Kyle's form of Cerebral Palsy is Spastic Diplegia. The periventricular white matter sends nerve impulses that controls motor function and spasticity. Kyle's disability affects his legs with increased muscle spasticity (an involuntary contraction causing searing pain). The diagnosis was devastating - he would be wheelchair bound for life. The family has been looking at the possibility of having him treated in America, and has been fundraising.
