Stephen O'Brien with the IFC Cup

IFC title for Nobber

Goals win games and Nobber got four in a 4-16 to 0-13 IFC final win against Trim at Pairc Tailteann today.

The presentation ceremony was an emotional occasion (see video clip) as the Nobber players and mentors celebrated the success.

Wind-assisted Nobber made a positive start and had a goal to their credit after only seven minutes when Brian Farrell finished to the net.

Farrell's experience was vital in the score as he kept following in the ball as Paul Meade burst forward and completely mis-hit his effort that looked like it would go wide until Farrell got a touch at the far post.

Nobber had a second goal in the bank by the end of the opening quarter and again there was a Farrell contribution with Jordan Morris finishing to the net.

NOBBER PLAYERS CELEBRATE

The move started when Sean Meade's free from close to the standside sideline was flicked into the path of Morris by Brian Farrell and Morris did the rest.

That gave Nobber a 2-2 to 0-3 advantage with Morris adding the points while Trim had two Aaron Lynch points, one free and one '45' along with a Daire Lynch point from play.

Thomas Murtagh was driving Nobber on from midfield and they added points from Niall Farrell and Sean Meade, but Trim whittled down the lead as they enjoyed a period of dominance.

Aaron Lynch (two frees), James Toher, Paul Munnelly and Rob Bourke sent over as Trim shaped up nicely, but they were rocked when Morris struck for his second goal and Brian Farrell added a late point to secure a 3-5 to 0-8 interval advantage.

Trim resumed smartly after the resumption with a Ciaran O'Rourke point, but Nobber countered on the double at the other end from Brian Farrell (free) and Niall Farrell from play after Trim survived a goal-scare.

Play became fragmented with stoppages for injuries to each side as they traded points through Morris (two frees) and Aaron Lynch, one from play and one free by the end of the third-quarter.

The breaks in play suited Nobber and Trim couldn't get any real fluency to their performance and instead conceded a number of frees as they trailed by 0-11 to 3-9 at the end of the third-quarter.

Nobber sealed victory when Sean Meade raced through for his side's fourth goal with 12 minutes remaining and the rest was fairly low key.

Trim could find nothing to muster a revival, reflected in a paltry return for the remainder with Brian Dowling and substitute Eoin McGrath in added time splitting the NObber posts.

Nobber kept the scoreboard ticking over and added points from Brian Farrell (four), Morris (two) and Niall Farrell.

Trim finished with 14 men after Alan Douglas was dismissed, but that didn't have any impact on the result.
