Summerhill advance to last four

Summerhill had 1-5 on the scoreboard inside seven minutes as they blitzed neighbours Na Fianna in the SFC quarter-final on the way to an impressive 3-19 to 1-11 victory.

David Larkin found the net with the points from Ross Ryan, Liam Shaw, Diarmuid McCabe, Paul Larkin and a Barry Dardis free.

Both Dardis and McCabe added a further brace apiece with Sean Dalton also on target but it was a 30th minute Dardis penalty miss - blazed wide - that was the talking point at the interval.

PENALTY PRACTICE ON THE AGENDA NEXT WEEK

Na Fianna recovered from that awful start and while they had a 12th minute goal from Owen McDonnell, they also saw a rocket from Sean Martin hit the Summerhill crossbar a minute earlier.

Points from Shane Walsh (two), Ethan Devine ('45'), Daniel Queeney, Jamie Queeney and Conor Downey had them in contention, just about, at the interval.

That all changed after the resumption as Summerhill upped the intensity and a goal from Kevin Ryan in the 33rd minute virtually finished the game as a contest.

Dardis had added a brace of pointed frees at that stage and it gave the 'Hill a commanding 2-12 to 1-7 advantage.

It also made the remainder fairly predictable with an overdue third goal arriving near the end from substitute Conor Frayne after a wayward kick-out from substitute Na Fianna goalkeeper Conor Heffernan.
