The Meath Food bank is appealing for donations

School lunch donations required

The Meath Food Bank is appealing to the public for donations of food suitable for children's lunches as the new school year approaches. The volunteer-led initiative that supports families in need in the community has seen a fall in donations over the summer and is calling for people to donate what they can.

"Due to lack of food donations at present we had to let three families down, our food supply is low at the moment and we have no perishable or frozen food left. We are basically so low that we would not be able to make a substantial hamper for a family.

"We take non-perishable foods and we also take perishable and frozen foods. We are starting to take in children's lunchables for school and any donations are gratefully appreciated."
