Cathal Finnegan

Finnegan to the rescue for Seneschalstown

With their SFC aspirations fading as quickly as the evening light Cathal Finnegan came up with a moment of brilliance to inspire Seneschalstown to their first win of the campaign with a stunning 2-15 to 2-11 victory over Skryne at Pairc Tailteann tonight.

After a dire opening half Seneschalstown looked to have put themselves in a comfortable position when they led by five points with 10 minutes remaining. However Skryne came roaring back and when they equalised in the 62nd minute through Paddy O'Rourke there looked like only one winner.

Then up stepped Cathal Finnegan. The long direct ball that hadn't really worked all evening was superbly gathered by the young corner-forward and as he turned Niall Lenehan he saw an inch of space and posted a brilliant finish beyond the advancing Ian Gillett to restore Seneschalstown's advantage.

Cathal Finnegan added the insurance score from a free moments later as Skryne were left to ponder how they let a point slip from their grasp so late on.
