Death of 1954 All Ireland medallist, Kevin Lenehan

The death occurred today of Kevin Lenehen, a member of Meath's All Ireland-winning team of 1954.

Popularly known as Gus, he lived at  Bremore Drive, Balbriggan,  Co Dublin, and formerly Duleek and Julianstown, playing his club football with St Patrick's GFC, Stamullen.

Kevin was right half back on the Meath team that beat Offaly in the 1954 Leinster final, going on to defeat Kerry in the All Ireland by 1-13 to 1-7.

He was on the losing Meath sides against Dublin in the 1955 Leinster decider and in the 1956 National League final against Cork.

Predeceased by his son, Laurence, he is survived by his wife Mary, family,  Mary, John, Phyllis and Yvonne, sons-in-law Roy, Brian and Tony, daughter-in-law Bridget, grandsons Darragh, Kevin, Ronan and Sean, great-grandson Drayden, sisters Bridie Lennox, Marie McDonagh, Una Bell, Margaret Lund, brothers Willie and John, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and a large circle of friends, especially in St Patrick's GAA club.

Kevin is reposing in McNally's Funeral Home, Balbriggan on Wednesday afternoon from 4pm to 6pm followed by evening removal to Ss Peter & Paul's Church, Balbriggan arriving at 6.15pm. Funeral Mass on Thursday at 10am burial afterwards in Ss Peter & Paul's Cemetery, Balbriggan.
