Local election candidate poster sabotage

A Fianna Fail local election hopeful for Ashbourne was shocked last night to discover that ALL of her election posters and billboards had been removed and stolen. Sarah-Jane Reilly was the only candidate targeted in the bizarre incident that saw all of her promotional posters taken down and says that she can't understand the thinking behind the ploy to sabotage her campaign.

"I'm really struggling to understand why someone would go to those lengths, I didn't think my mug was that offensive," she says, adding,"Joking aside nobody has the right to go out and take down posters and material that I and many  people supporting me spent so long organising and putting up, not to mention the expense and cost involved."

"The hoarding was only placed at the Pillo Roundabout in Ashbourne early yesterday evening and when I drove by last night it was gone. I thought that it was just an isolated incident but when I checked on the posters, mainly located near the community centre, every single one of them were gone too.

"They were put up very securely and tied with cable so it would not have been an easy task to remove them, it would have required a lot of work. Whoever it was, knew what they were doing. I'm absolutely dumbfounded that someone would go to that trouble, it's really pathetic."
