Patient left Navan Hospital

Hospital patient found in confused state near Navan industrial estate

A patient of Our Lady's Hospital, Navan, who was still in pyjamas and nightgown, was seen walking into an industrial estate and close to the Blackwater River in Navan on Saturday night.

He was spotted crossing the Navan/Kells road and heading towards the old Department of Agriculture building and then back through Balmoral industrial estate towards the river.

A member of Meath River Rescue happened to be passing the area at approximately 10.45pm, when he saw the man. He approached the man, who seemed confused, and talked to him to make sure he was ok, but he kept going at first. The MMR volunteer managed to stop him and directed him to gardai who attended from nearby Navan Garda station and they brought him back to the hospital.

A spokesperson for the Irish East Hospital Group said; "Our Lady's Hospital Navan does not comment on individual patient cases in order to protect patient confidentiality."
