Temperatures could hit 17 degrees as Met Eireann predicts a warm and dry week ahead

The spell of mild weather looks set to continue this week with temperatures rising to a balmy 17 degrees in parts of the country today.  February has been very mild so far, with temperatures warmer than some parts of Italy and the good news is that it's set to continue for the rest of the week.

Met Eireann reports it will be exceptionally mild, especially away from southern and eastern coasts.

"Dry today, Monday, with variable cloud amounts and sunny spells breaking through after a misty and foggy start in some parts. Maximum temperatures 11 to 16 degrees, coolest along the coast in light to moderate southeast or variable breezes."

"Tuesday is set to be dry and bright with sunny spells once early mist and fog patches clear, although a few patches could linger all day in southern parts of the province. Highs of 11 to 15 degrees in light southeast or variable breezes."

" Wednesday will have dry with bright or sunny spells once early mist and fog patches clear. Maximum temperatures of 11 to 15 degrees Celsius, possibly reaching 16 degrees in parts of the mid-west, dependent on sunshine. Variable cloud and clear spells with a few spots of drizzle overnight. Lows of 3 to 7 Celsius in light southerly or variable breezes. Mist and fog patches also."

The national outlook is encouraging but don't get too excited as some unsettled weather is heading our way by the weekend.

"Mild and mainly dry at first with high pressure over continental Europe continuing as the dominant influence on our weather. An Atlantic regime re-establishes towards the end of the week, heralding a much more changeable and, at times, unsettled weather pattern."

Make the most of it!
