Met Eireann has issued a Status Yellow - Weather Advisory for Ireland for this Friday

The national forecaster has warned it could be "very windy on Friday with possibly storm force winds along parts of the coast.

This follows a warning last night by MetAlert Ireland that Friday could see the arrival of storm force gales with gusts reaching a possible 120km. They will update their advice later today.

MetAlert Ireland is stating that a "weather watch for strong gales with potential for storm like conditions on Friday."

"This is a watch and "not" an alert or warning. Early indications suggest gusts of 90kmh to 120kmh with a risk of this extending into Saturday morning hours"

"We will issue an update tomorrow evening and if required move to an alert or warning if necessary. 
Like all watches just be aware of the potential and keep a close eye on local or national weather forecasts."

MetAlert Ireland provides advanced advisories and impact based awareness to communities during adverse weather conditions on the island of Ireland. Met Alert gave their prediction a Confidence score of 70%.

Currently Met Eireann is saying Friday will be very windy with strong to gale force southwest winds and severe gusts. "Winds will veer westerly by early afternoon. they'll continue very strong for a time and then gradually ease. Rain in the morning will clear eastwards with heavy showers following for the rest of the day. Highest temperatures of 8 to 10 degrees. Friday night will be breezy with clear spells and scattered showers."
