Admission price increases blasted by Duleek / Bellewstown delegate
Paddy Watters (Duleek / Bellewstown) suggested that Meath Co Board should consider a protest against the increase in admission prices to inter-county games in the NFL at tonight's meeting.
The Duleek / Bellewstown delegate outlined his frustration at the recent increase in admission charges.
"It's particularly unfair for senior citizens and I know that directly, both myself and my wife who goes to all the Meath games with me," stated the Duleek / Bellewstown delegate.
It subsequently emerged during a discussion on the ticket prices that the on-line discount only applies to full-price tickets (€20 to €15) but not to senior citizens who have to pay €15 either on-line or at the turnstile.
PRO Ciaran Flynn urged delegates to avail of the discount available through on-line purchase of tickets.
"Don't forget that for next Sunday you will get two games for €15 if you pirchase on-line," he stated and he also outlined the great success of the Co Boad social media platforms.
Development Officer Jason Plunkett told delegates that the increased admission fees to NFL games would lead to an increase in grants going back to the grassroots - the clubs.

Co Board in Ballybofey on Saturday night was also commended.
It was an emotional occasion the secretary told the at Monday night's Co Board meeting.

Donegal officials," stated the secretary.
Changes to the Junior C and Junior D football championships and the JHC 2 will see the games played at the home venues for 2019.
The team drawn out first in each tie when the draws are completed at the March meeting will have home venue in the first round.
Games at these grades will not be played at neutral venues anymore.
Admission charges to club championship games will remain at €10 / €5 up to the quarter-final stages and for SFC and IFC semi-finals the price will go to €15 with finals at €20.
Joe O'Brien (Skryne) asked the Co Board to suggest to senior football manager Andy McEntee to refrain from approaching referees after games.
"It sends out the wrong message and it makes it more difficult for us to get a message across at club level," stated the Skryne delegate.
Concerns were expressed by a number of delegates about the condition of the pitch on Cork for the forthcoming NFL Div 2 game.
Chairman Peter O'Halloran confirmed that clubs who supported the first house draw will receive the comission due in the next week or so and that a meeting about the proposed development of Pairc Tailteann is scheduled for later this month.
"I have no doubt that we can reach our target of a projected profit of €1,600,000, but tickets that will be sold for the next two draws will be single entry tickets only," he stated.
The second draw will take place on Sunday 29th September and the third and final draw will take pace after Christmas on Sunday 29th December.
Pat O'Reilly was co-opted to the Hearings Committee and was duly ratifed while Davy Nelson was ratified for a second term as manager of the Meath junior football team.
