Dramatic scenes in Ardee as man (32), arrested following discovery of woman's body

A 32-year-old man has been arrested following the discovery of a body of a woman in Ardee. Gardai investigating the discovery in the town this morning sealed off three houses.

Cordons have been placed on a house in Clonmore, at Cherrybrook and Bridge Street.
An investigation is under way after the body was discovered with severe injuries in a house in Clonmore.
Gardai were called to the house  at around 11.30am where they discovered the body and believe the woman may have died violently.
The scene has been preserved and technical examination being carried out.

Gardai arrested a 32-year-old male this afternoon in connection with this investigation in the Bridge Street area of Ardee. It's believed the man who was arrested was known to the victim. He is currently detained under the provisions of Section 4 of The Criminal Justice Act 1984 at Drogheda Garda Station and can be held for 24 hours.

Gardai were called to a house in Clonmore at approx 11.30 this morning.
