Man seriously injured in Nobber collision

It was a bad weekend on Meath roads with one motorcyclist killed and another seriously injured in a collision at Johnstown, Enfield, yesterday afternoon, while a man in his 20s is in a serious condition following a single vehicle collision in Nobber last night.

Navan Gardai are investigating the collision which occurred on the R162 close to Nobber Cemetery at around 11pm last night.

Emergency services attended the scene and the injured man was taken by ambulance to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda. 

The R162 is currently closed at Spiddal Cross while a technical examination is being carried out with the road expected to re-open by lunchtime. Diversions are in place. 

Meanwhile, Gardai in Trim are investigating a fatal road traffic collision at Johnstown yesterday afternoon, which claimed the life of a 51-year-old motorcyclist.

The collision, between two motor bikes and a 4 x4,  occurred on the Johnstown Road in Enfield at approximately 1.30pm. Both male motorcyclists were seriously injured in the collision and one was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was taken to the mortuary at Navan Hospital. The second motorcyclist, a man in his sixties, was seriously injured and taken James Connolly Memorial Hospital, Blanchardstown.
