Action from Na Fianna and Crookedwood

Na Fianna ease into Leinster JHC semi

Na Fianna delivered an impressive 6-14 to 1-10 Leinster Club JHC quarter-final victory against Westmeath champions Crookedwood at Trim this afternoon.

The win sets Na Fianna up for a home semi-final against either Wolfe Tones (Longford) or Taghmon Camross of Wexford.

That quarter-final will be played tomorrow in Carlow with the Longford senior champions tackling the Intermediate A champions from Wexford.

Today at Trim it was realatively straightforward for Na Fianna after a competitive opening quarter that they shaded by 0-5 to 0-3.

A brace of points each by Peter Slevin and Sean Martin plus one by Mark Slevin for Na Fianna were countered by two frees from Barry O'Mara and one effort from play by John Nally for Crookedwood.

Three second-quarter goals put Na Fianna firmly in the driving seat with Mark Slevin (two) and Peter Slevin finding the net.

Barry Slevin also added two points with Mark Slevin completing the Meath men's first-half tally for a 3-8 to 0-6
interval lead as Crookedwood laboured for accuracy with O'Mara (two) and Conor Savage splitting the posts.

Crookedwood lost Noel Yourell to a red card soon after the resumption and although they rallied briefly with the help of an O'Mara goal they were never in contention.

Na Fianna eased to victory with the second-half goals from Mark Slevin, Barry Slevin and Ronan Byrne.

However, Na Fianna goalkeeper Eoin Reilly was forced off with an eye injury midway through the second-half
