Simon Deevy capped a fine display with two tries today.

Flurry of Ashbourne tries secures win

With the help  of a flurry of second-half tries Ashbourne quenched the challenge of DLSP in a highly entertaining Leinster League Div 1A encounter at Ashbourne today.

This game had just about everything including a spirited comeback by table-toppers Ashbourne who trailed 6-13 at the break after a very lacklusture opening half.

Relying on quick ruck ball the home side cut loose after the break with the outstanding Simon Deevy slicing through the DLSP defence to score two tries. Colm Craigie, Sean Kent and Casey Dunne also broke through for touchdowns. Captain Donal Crotty converted four of the tries with the out-half also tagging on three penalties.

Once they got their passing game going there was no stopping the swashbuckling Asbourne side who have an appearance in the All-Ireland Junior final to look forward to on the horizon. Overall a day to remember for Ashbourne.
