Meath set for Carlow in O'Byrne Cup tonight

Meath footballers play the first of two games in five days when they travel to Dr Cullen Park tonight to tackle Carlow in the O'Byrne Cup with throw-in at 8pm.

Hosts Carlow will go into the game knowing that a win will put them through and send Meath facing a meaningless game against Wicklow on Sunday in Navan.

Carlow manager Turlough O'Brien saw his side make a winning start on Saturday against against Wicklow where they won by 3-8 to 0-6 in Bray.

John Murphy got two of the goals and Sean Gannon also found the net. The Carlow supporters will be looking for more of the same tonight.

For Meath the goalkeeping position goes to Andrew Colgan from the Donaghmore / Ashbourne club.

Coming into the side is impressive Simonstown defender Shane Gallagher with two other players from the club, Sean Tobin and Padraig McKeever in the full-forward line. Also returning is Clonard's Adam Flanagan who will partner Bryan Menton at midfield.
