New nomination process for young sportsperson of the year

The Meath Chronicle / Cusack Hotel Group young sportsperson of the year award was introduced in 2009 and this year Meath Chronicle readers will have an opportunity to nominate for the award.

The process will open next week when a nomination form will be printed in the Meath Chronicle and the nominations will close on Thursday 30th November.

A list of all the nominees will be printed in the Meath Chronicle dated Saturday 9th December.

A shortlist of 12 will be selected by the judging panel and will be announced in the Meath Chronicle dated 16th December and the nominees will be featured in editions of the Meath Chronicle dated 16th, 23rd and 30th December.

This year the winner will selected ahead of the awards ceremony.

The winner will be announced in the Meath Chronicle dated Saturday 6th January and invited to the awards night.

The judging panel will comprise Meath Chronicle sports editor Conall Collier and reporters Fergal Lynch and Jimmy Geoghegan. Meath Chronicle editor Gavan Becton will chair the panel.

Meath Chronicle readers should note that any young person up to the age of 18 may be nominated on an original form that will appear in the Meath Chronicle next week. 

Supporting information must include a reason for the nomination in a maximum of 100 words and a contact for the nominee or the nominee's parents.
