Keane captures first flat title

Colin Keane moved on to the 98-winner mark for the season at Dundalk tonight as he heads for Naas on Sunday for the final flat racing of the season and a first flat title.

Keane took the laurels with the Ger Lyons-trained It's Two O Clock which is owned by the trainer's wife, Lynne and will be presented with the title at Naas on Sunday as Pat Smullen the defending champions cannot catch him at this stage.

Keane claimed the Irish Flat Apprentice Jockey title in 2014 and was presented with his award on the final day of the season at Leopardstown when he shared the podium with Pat Smullen who was chasing a 10th title this year

The Meath jockey only partnered his 100th career winner three years ago (July 2014) when he was on board Togoville to win a handicap at Roscommon for Meath trainer Pat Martin, who was also on the mark at Dundalk tonight.
