Meath Pool League - third round update

Action continued in the Meath Pool League last Friday night with some great performances and some woeful shots!

Div 1 saw the Balreask A play Bective A which turned out to be another cracking game.

The first game saw Ciaran O'Sullivan take the win against Richie Berry in what turned out to be a very tactical game.

Ian Govender played Rory Callan in a relatively close game but Rory fouled and Ian completed a lovely finish with four reds and the black to make it 1-1.

Keith Cahill earned his first victory for Bective A against a very favoured Keith McGibney.

Alan Smith took out a super finish with several doubles to put the Balreask A level on frames at 2-2.

In what was very unusual circumstances the frames went against the break for the remaining singles with a win for Rod Clifford representing Bective A and Martin Keenan finishing strongly for Balreask A, leaving it 3-3 after the singles.

The doubles alternated in frames all the way throughout to the final frame with strong wins for Ian Govendar and Martin Kennan winning both their doubles sessions for the Balreask A while Rod Clifford/Ciaran OSullivan and Nigel Rennicks/Keith Cahill also secured fantastic wins for Bective A leaving it 5-5.

With two frames left and both teams on form Rory Callan and James Darcy edged it for the Bective A leaving it 6-5.

In the final encounter, Balreask, under immense pressure sucured the draw with a win for Paul Teirney and Richard Berry leaving the final score  Balreask A 6 - Bective A 6.

Div2

Fitzimons v Fox's B
Fitzimons have been hot and cold this year but when they came up against Fox's B they were roasting hot.

At the end of the singles Fitzimons were 5-1 ahead with great wins for Greg Lynch, Alan Farrelly, Joe Murry, Jarlath Fitzimons and Jonathan McCabe.
Mick Kelly secured Fox's B first frame to leave a glimmer of hope.

This hope was extinguished when Fitizmons kept the pressure on and won the next two doubles matches with Greg Lynch/Alan Farrelly and Joe Murry/Richie Murtagh taking it home to win leaving Fitzimons A 7- Fox's B 1.

Balreask B v Henry Loughran's
Balreask went into an early lead with strong wins for Stuart Dowdall and Tino Borez putting it 2-0 for the away team.

John Lynch got one back for Loughran's but the Balreask meant business winning the next three with wins for Tony Gilkeson, David Gilkeson and Danny Shields leaving it 5-1 for the Balreask B.

With the start of the doubles Loughran's showed a strong impetus, not wanting to allow the the Balreask B dominance to continue, and had excellent wins for Donal Flaherty/Mick Durkin and Don Byrne/Joe Byrne.

Danny Shields and Joe McKeever won the last frame in the first doubles and the first frame of the second set of doubles to take victory and put the Balreask B on top of  Div 2 with the Carnaross Inn level on three wins out of three for both teams.
