O'Connor and Ireland claim gold in Sweden

The 2012 Meath Sportsperson of the Year Cian O'Connor was on the team that last night saw Ireland claim the gold medal at the FEI European Championships in Gothenburg where they edged out the hosts.

The Irish team of O'Connor, Shane Sweetnam, Denis Lynch claimed victorywith three clear rounds which was all the nore notable as fourth team member 
 Bertram Allen was forced to retire following a fall with his horse Hector van d’Abdijhoeve in the second round. 

The Irish went into the final round in the bronze medal position but delivered a fantastic performance to take gold for Ireland. 

Shane Sweetnam (Chaqui Z) was the first to go  clear followed by Denis Lynch (All Star 5) and Cian O'Connor with the well-named 'Good Luck'. 

Sweden took silver while Switzerland took bronze.
