Ladies bidding for Leinster football title

Meath's lady footballers will be bidding for the Ladies Leinster IFC title on Sunday when they tackle Wexford in the decider at Dr Cullen Park, Carlow, 2pm.

Manager Eamonn Murray has every reason to be optimistic ahead of Sunday's showdown against a Wexford side that lost the NFL Div 3 decider to Tipperary after a replay.

The sides have already met on a couple of occasions this year with Wexford claiming a N FL Div 3 victory and a championship round-robin win a few weeks ago although both sides had qualified for the semi-finals at that stage.

Wexford had a 3-13 to 0-14 win in the league and 1-15 to 1-11 margin in the championship encounter.

The return of players of the calibre of Emma Troy and Aideen Guy will strenghten the defence while Stacey Grimes and Marion Farrelly will lead the attack.

Meath will be confident of an causing an upset on Sunday, but Wexford will go into the game as big favourites.

Wexford have shown their potential over the last couple of years and will be tough to break down.

The Meath Chronicle will have Twitter updates from the game.
