Kiltale coach Cathal Sheridan talks to his troops after their big win.

Kiltale blow Gaels away

Champions Kiltale put Blackhall Gaels to the sword at Ashbourne tonight chalking up a facile 8-16 to 0-10 victory in the SHC.

This was a exhibition of hurling from the champions who led 1-9 to 0-3 at the interval and they really turned on the style in the second-half with Jack Regan going on to score 1-11, three points from frees, while Ross Ryan and Peter Durnin both helped himself to 2-1. Cathal McCabe was another to hit the net for the winners.

Ferghal McCabe came on as a second-half substitute to fire home two goals as Cathal Sheridan's side pressed relentlessly on.

Kiltale also spurned a series of good chances for points while in the first-half Regan had a penalty superbly saved by Blackhall Gaels goalkeeper Paul Kelly. Later in the game Kelly also made an outstanding block from Ryan.

In the second-half the Gaels were also awarded a penalty but Whitty's shot brought out a brilliant save from Kiltale netminder Shane McGann who dived to his right to turn the ball away.

The contest turned into a training stint for the champions who were awesome in the way they passed the ball and opened up the over-worked, embattled Blackhall defence.

Whitty led the way for Blackhall Gaels with seven points while Noel O'Hora, Colm Whitty and Jonathan Meyler were others to fire over.

With three wins from three outings Kiltale look like they really want to hold onto their crown.
