Lots at stake in Leinster SHC next weekend

The build up to the biggest game for Meath hurlers for many years continues this weekend with manager Martin Ennis and the players continuing their preparations for the knock-out Leinster SHC third round trip to Mullingar to tackle Westmeath on Sunday 14th May.

The Meath Chronicle will carry a preview of the big game in the next edition - out on Tuesday evening next.

Some basic information about the final series in the Leinster SHC round robin.

If Meath win they will qualify for the Leinster SHC quarter-final.

If Meath earn a draw they could also qualify provided Laois beat Kerry.

If Meath lose they could be relegated back to the Christy Ring Cup if Kerry beat Laois.

However, if Meath lose and Laois beat Kerry, there will be three teams on two points, Meath, Westmeath and Kerry

Score difference will apply if three or more teams finish level on points.

Should Kerry beat Laois and Meath overcome Westmeath, three teams would then be level on four points each, with only two to go through.

A county could yet claim second place in the group with two points, should Laois win against Kerry and Westmeath beat Meath - that would leave three teams on two points each.

According to Leinster Council - score difference will be used to determine the qualifying teams and the relegated teams.

QUARTER-FINALS

The draw for the Leinster SHC quarter-final games involving Wexford and Offaly and the two qualifiers will take place on Sunday 14th May after the round robin series of games are completed. It will be on the RTE Radio 1 Sunday Sports Programme from Mullingar that day.
