Huijsdens selected for Ireland basketball team

Dunshaughlin's Rachel Huijsdens has been selected to represent Ireland on the Irish u-18 Women’s basketball team for the FIBA Women's European (Div B) Championships which will be hosted in Dublin next August.

Huijsdens, who plays Gaelic football for Royal Gaels, is also expected to play for Meath in the Ladies Leinster MFC B final against Westmeath at Clane on Sunday.

The Championships will run from August 4th to 13th and will be held in two venues – the National Basketball Arena in Tallaght and the National Indoor Arena, Abbotstown.

“It was a very difficult decision today to select 12 players to go forward for the Irish Under 18 Women’s team as there is such a depth of young talent here in the country,' stated coach Tommy O’Mahony.
